Nut bearing trees are also good landscape candidates where a large and stately tree is needed. However, despite of the number of nut bearing trees which you can use for landscaping, the black walnut is the one which you should avoid due to the toxins that it produce and may even kill other plants in your landscape. However, if you would want an alternative for the black walnut, then you can use the butternut tree since it is also advisable to use for landscaping. If you happen to search for the perfect alternative for your black walnut tree, then you should definitely use the butternut tree since the two trees look exactly the same, however, the butternut tree does not produce toxins on its root system. The nuts are also delicious. There are now disease resistant butternuts available. Hazelnut blooms when nothing else blooms and sports beautiful foliage in the fall.
